The solutions too may be many. In Vista, if a disk with removable media has no media in it, Windows handles the software exception (by displaying this error message). Inviso said... The worst part was that it came up a lot during my Spybot scans.

Hence API's like CreateDirectory, GetDiskFreSpaceEx etc raise this dialog showing the exception in Vista, but not XP etc.

I uninstalled the standard floppy disk installer and the error has gone. I had this error on a customer in AZ.
