This feature is not available right now. My D3 was giving me EE message instead of enabling me to adjust the aperture value. But of course no image is saved, no auto-focus, no flash. My consolation is that I did help you with your initial question.

I can also use my D300s with any lens stopped down, but if I put the 24-70 on the D300s I get th "err" message. Up-and-coming portrait photographer in Honolulu. I wondered if the error occurred because of this, so I took off the lens and flipped the shutter up with my finger. It's been known to happen and isn't the cheapest of things to fix! David, I see your point about a cleaner made for electronics, but I agree that it's a bit of a long shot. Nikon also suggest the following if the Err code flashes up: Remove all accessories from the camera. Your "cleaning" suggestions AND the pictures that indicate where everything is located. but I'm thinking to buy Nikkor 14-24mm or 16-35mm (Wide angle) for landscape pics.
I said the wrong thing in my previous message! So rather than sell your D600 at a loss and purchase the new D610, demand from Nikon a full replacement of the shutter mechanism used on the D610. My D1x had never before had this problem, and after some research (this page) I was busy cleaning the contacts on the camera and lens. The lens attached was a Sigma f2.8 70mm zoom.
