Ive had it for 2 years and havent sent it out once because I dont want to part with it. It wont release the flash. r09 means thats how many images you can take before the BUFFER fills up, not the memory card - I'm not sure why I said that before!! Failing that, manually focus on an area that has real contrast, and then re-frame and refocus on the subject. Cleaned the contacts as you said on both lens and camera.
